Using the Badge Print Station

Print badges on demand to a USB Zebra printer — Chrome only, no drivers.

1

What the Print Station Does

From the Gate landing page, click Badge Print Station. Unlike the Badges PDF tool, this prints badges on demand straight to a connected Zebra label printer over USB — perfect for a registration desk where attendees print as they arrive.

Browser & Hardware Requirements

The print station uses WebUSB to talk to the printer directly from your browser — so there are no drivers to install. You'll need:

  • Chrome or Edge on a laptop (other browsers don't support WebUSB)
  • A USB port and a Zebra label printer (e.g. the ZD621)

Important

If you open the print station in an unsupported browser, you'll see a prompt to switch to Chrome or Edge on a laptop with a USB port. This is the current (v1) approach to badge printing.

3

Connecting a Printer

Plug the Zebra into your laptop via USB and click Connect Printer. Chrome asks for permission once — after that, the printer reconnects automatically whenever you return.

The first time it sees a new printer, you'll register it: give it a label (e.g. "Front Table Left") and tell Gythr which ticket stock is loaded. Once connected, a banner shows the printer's label, its loaded stock, and serial number, with a Reconfigure option.

4

Stock & Calibration

In Reconfigure you can set the label, loaded stock, and the badge dimensions — strip width, strip height (in dots), and DPI. Defaults are provided for common Zebra setups.

After swapping label stock, run the printer's FEED-button calibration so it correctly finds the perforations between labels.

Pro tip

Knowing the loaded stock lets Gythr warn you when an attendee's ticket type doesn't match what's in the printer — so VIP badges don't print on general-admission stock.

5

Printing & Batch Printing

The attendee table shows each person's name, email, ticket type, and print history (e.g. "printed 1× · last …"). Click Print (or Reprint) on a row to print that badge. If the row reads Wrong stock, the printer is loaded with a different ticket type than that attendee's.

When several people are waiting, use Print all to batch-print everyone at the station who hasn't been printed yet. Filters let you show only the current stock or only people not yet printed.
