Creating Discount Codes

Set up promo codes with percentage, fixed-amount, or override pricing.

1

Navigate to Discount Codes

From the Gate landing page, click Discount Codes. This is where you create and manage promo codes attendees can enter at checkout to get a reduced price.

Creating a Code

Click New Discount and start with the Promo Code — the text attendees type at checkout (e.g. EARLYBIRD50). It's automatically uppercased so codes stay consistent.

Then choose a Discount Type:

  • Percentage Off — Takes a percent off the ticket price. You set a Percentage (1–100).
  • Fixed Amount Off — Takes a set dollar amount off. You set an Amount Off ($).
  • Override Price — Replaces the ticket price entirely. You set a New Price ($) — enter 0 to make the ticket free.

Pro tip

Override Price is handy for partner or scholarship codes where you want a specific flat price regardless of the ticket's normal cost.

Limits & Validity

Control how and when a code can be used:

  • Max Uses — How many times the code can be redeemed before it stops working. Leave blank for unlimited.
  • Valid From / Valid Until — The date and time window the code is active.
  • Active — When editing a code, this toggle lets you switch it on or off without deleting it.

Scoping to Ticket Types

The Applies To section is a checklist of your ticket types. Check the ones the code should work on. If you select none, the code applies to all tickets.

For example, to give a group a discount only on VIP packages, check just "VIP" — the code won't reduce the price of any other ticket.

Pro tip

Each code's card shows live usage (e.g. '12 / 50 used'), its dates, and how many ticket types it covers — so you can see at a glance which codes are running hot.
